So much of your next software solution will originate in the mind of the person designing it. It stands to reason you’d want to get to know that person a little.
I’ve been an artist and writer since I could hold a pencil. When they retired, my parents discovered quite a sizable cache of home-made comic books I authored and illustrated as a child, each growing in sophistication as I grew in years.
When I studied journalism at Loyola, I added a passion for research and analysis. I left university with a strong desire to use these talents and passions to solve problems and help people.
This nearly lead me to law school. But the future was looking increasingly computerized so I decided to study computer graphics and animation at Columbia College instead.
I finished that work just in time for the Internet boom. And I’ve been designing online software ever since.
When most people think of software design, they tend to focus on the look-and-feel. But a UX Designer focuses on every aspect of the total experience. From what it looks like, to how it’s structured. From how it behaves, to how easy it is to learn. If all you notice about an app is how much you’re getting done, then the design succeeded.
Such broad goals and interrelated responsibilities require an effective UX Designer to interact not just with other designers, but with developers, and with the business side. And most importantly, with end users.
These end users are the reason I do what I do. My aim is to empower them in every way possible. Because empowered users are your most loyal customers.
Let’s talk.
